Equal Housing Opportunity
The Taylor Team at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New Mexico Properties is committed to providing equal professional service without regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, ancestry, or spousal affiliation. We fully support and comply with all federal, state, and local fair housing laws.
Federal Fair Housing Act
The Fair Housing Act (Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, 42 U.S.C. Sections 3601-3619) prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on the following protected classes:
- •Race
- •Color
- •Religion
- •Sex (including sexual harassment)
- •Handicap (physical or mental disability)
- •Familial status (families with children under 18, pregnant persons, or those securing custody of children)
- •National origin
The Fair Housing Act makes it unlawful to discriminate in any aspect of a real estate transaction, including but not limited to: advertising, showing properties, negotiating terms, providing financing information, appraising properties, and any other activities related to the sale or rental of housing.
New Mexico Human Rights Act
In addition to federal protections, the New Mexico Human Rights Act (NMSA 1978, Sections 28-1-1 through 28-1-15) provides additional protections against housing discrimination. Under New Mexico law, the following additional classes are protected beyond federal law:
- •Ancestry
- •Gender identity
- •Sexual orientation
- •Spousal affiliation (marital status)
The Taylor Team fully complies with the New Mexico Human Rights Act and does not discriminate on the basis of any state-protected class in any aspect of our real estate services.
